I just found the Creative Commons Licensed Open Business Guide Via the Fast Company Blog(I heard they are going out of business I hope this is not true because I love them). I think we should take advantage of this forum and share ideas for open standards based identity business models.
This looks really cool....
Against this context the objective of our project becomes clear:
* Because there is no central resource presently in existence, we will collect examples of new open business models through the international Creative Commons network. • We will examine the similarities and differences that exist between the following models: o An open and commercial model that does not utilize CC licensing, such as Google o An open and semi-commercial model that rests on the collaboration of hundreds of contributors, such as Flickr or WIKIPEDIA o A semi-collaborative model that employs CC licenses, such as Magnatune o A free and non-collaborative model in which the firm derives revenue through services associated with the free product (see below section X. Economic Framework) • The survey will include businesses throughout both developed and developing nations. A key function of the project will be to investigate open business models in developing nations. The rationale for this sub-project is twofold. First, surveying and analyzing business models in developing nations will help us to learn from and understand these examples, which will serve to enrich the Open Business Guide as a whole. Second, the resulting Guide will act as an aid for entrepreneurs in developing nations so that they can make better use of the business options available to them via the Internet.
